STATEHOUSE (Dec. 19, 2018) – State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) encourages students who want to learn more about state government to participate in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2019 legislative session.
According to Judy, those who are between the ages of 13 to 18 can spend a day at the Statehouse in Indianapolis helping staff and local legislators, touring government offices, and learning about the legislative process.
“My daughter participated in this program last year, and she came away with a deeper understanding of the lawmaking process,” Judy said. “After discussing her experiences, she would recommend it to other students.”
Judy said student pages receive an excused absence from school and groups can participate together.
The 2019 legislative session begins Thursday, Jan. 3, and must conclude by April 30. Pages are able to select from available dates during that time period.
“This is a popular program at the Statehouse, and these limited spots tend to fill up quickly,” Judy said. “Interested students should apply sooner rather than later.”
