STATEHOUSE (March 29, 2019) – State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) recently honored Whitko High School art students at the Statehouse for their accomplishments in the 49th World School Children’s Art Exhibition.
The World School Children’s Art Exhibition, which took place in Taipei, Republic of China, promotes mutual understanding and friendship through the exchange of children’s artwork.
“These students are incredibly talented, and represent our community and country very well,” Judy said. “It is truly remarkable that these young men and women qualified for a major international competition and brought several medals back home with them.”
Whitko students received medals for their artwork in the competition, which showcased artwork from various countries. The variety of artistry included oil paintings, water colors, wood cut prints, pencil sketches, crayon drawings, pastels and more.
Ryce Noragon and Chase Pulley received Bronze Placement Medals for their artwork titled “Perched” and “The Wonderer,” respectively. Patricia (Gracie) French, Josephine McClure, Mayci Schlichter, Brett Sickafoose, Kayce Sims, Erin Starkweather, Bryce Tucker, Alison Weeks and Summer West each received selective certificates for their works.
Whitko High School art students have received 40 state, 43 national and 202 international awards under the guidance of Whitko art teacher Daniel Malicki. The school won 11 of 32 awards received by U.S. contributors.
