STATEHOUSE (June 25, 2025)  The National Guard Association of Indiana recently presented State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) with the prestigious R. Martin Umbarger President's Award during its annual conference, recognizing his commitment to Indiana's National Guard and military community.

This award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, dedication and outstanding service to the United States, the Armed Forces of the United States or to the NGAI. Judy, a decorated veteran of the Indiana National Guard who served in Iraq during 2008 as a combat medic, has consistently worked to strengthen military readiness and improve the lives of active servicemembers and veterans across the state.

"It's an incredible honor to receive this award from the National Guard Association of Indiana," Judy said. "Supporting active servicemembers and veterans is one of my top priorities, and I remain committed to advocating for the men and women who serve our great state and nation."

As a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee, Judy has authored and supported legislation providing property tax relief for disabled veterans, expanding access to educational benefits and increasing investment in military infrastructure.

The R. Martin Umbarger President's Award is named after the retired Adjutant General of Indiana and is one of NGAI's highest honors, awarded to those who go above and beyond.
