STATEHOUSE (May 18, 2026) – State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) encourages residents to stay informed and participate in the upcoming public hearing regarding the proposed quarry project in southwest Allen County, scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The hearing, hosted by the Allen County Plan Commission and the Allen County Board of Zoning Appeals, will provide an opportunity for residents to review updated information, ask questions and share feedback on the proposed development.
"This is a significant proposal that has generated strong interest across our community," Judy said. "As I have said previously, it is critical that residents have access to clear information and the opportunity to be heard before any decisions are made that can impact Hoosier families, land use and the long-term effects on the community."
The proposed project includes a large-scale quarry development located near established residential neighborhoods, Lafayette Meadows Elementary School within the Southwest Allen County Schools district and nearby medical facilities operated by IU Health. The proposal has raised community concerns related to land use and potential impacts on surrounding residential areas and public facilities.
Judy noted that the upcoming hearing is an important step of the public process.
"Regardless of where people stand on this project, I encourage everyone to attend, stay engaged and make their voices heard through the appropriate channels," Judy said. "These are the kinds of decisions that benefit from full transparency and active community participation."
The public hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Judy's office remains available to answer questions and hear comments or concerns.
