Allen County Noble County Whitley County Statement: Rep. Heuer reacts to Adjournment of 2012 Session STATEHOUSE – “I am very pleased with all that has been accomplished by the General Assembly during this legislative session. The short session came to an end three days ahead of schedule but I believe we passed several significant pieces of legislation that will benefit Hoosiers statewide. “In the first half of session, we made it a priority to pass Right to Work legislation which should further help us attract new jobs to Indiana. For our farming and small business community, we passed legislation phasing out the inheritance tax. Another key bill that was enacted will help our servicemen and women who make such great sacrifices to protect our freedoms and way of life. HB 1059 allows members of the armed forces and their families to draw assistance from the Military Family Relief Fund (MFRF) for three years, up from one year during their time of need. This legislation returns a very small portion of the debt we all owe to these brave men and women.” “I am proud of the work we were able to accomplish this session for my constituents and Hoosiers statewide.” -30- |
