STATEHOUSE (July 13, 2022)  State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) recently received an appointment to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance.

State legislators serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall, and examine top policy issues, gather public input and recommend legislation for the regular session beginning in January.

"With medical costs soaring, we will look at making every effort to find ways to reduce the expense of these essential services," Heaton said. "That includes streamlining the process of insurance approvals for providing care, and examining market concentration in the industry and its effects on prices."

According to Heaton, members of the public are welcome to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
