STATEHOUSE (Dec. 27, 2017) — Applications are open for students interested in participating in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2018 legislative session, according to State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute).
Pages have an opportunity to join Heaton during the legislative session and tour the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers.
“I always encourage students from our community to participate in this wonderful learning experience,” Heaton said. “Serving as a page gives students a glimpse into state government and the legislative process. It is a very unique opportunity for young people where they gain knowledge while visiting the Statehouse.”
To be a page, applicants should be between the ages of 13 and 18. Heaton said student pages receive an excused absence from school and groups can sign up to participate together.
The 2018 legislative session begins Wednesday, Jan. 3, and must conclude by March 14.
Heaton said page positions fill quickly and encouraged participants to apply early online at www.indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram or by calling 800-382-9841.
