STATEHOUSE – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) appointed State Representative Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) to serve as Majority Whip. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
“I am honored that Speaker Bosma has selected me to serve as Majority Whip,” said Rep. Heaton. “In this role, I will continue to lead with integrity and serve our community and state to the best of my abilities. Although there are many issues that need to be addressed this session, I am confident we will find meaningful solutions to benefit Hoosier families.”
In addition to this leadership role, Rep. Heaton will continue to serve as Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial Institutions. Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“The Financial Institutions Committee will review legislation on issues that impact Indiana’s financial market,” said Rep. Heaton. “In order to increase stability in our economy, I will continue my work to ensure that only the best practices remain in place and that Hoosiers’ investments are protected.”
