STATEHOUSE (Feb. 10, 2016) – State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond) welcomes local resident, Alyssa Jennings, to the Statehouse where she is interning with the House of Representatives during the 2016 legislative session.
Jennings, a resident of Richmond, is the daughter of Brian and Teresa Jennings. A 2010 Centerville Senior High School graduate, Jennings attended Miami University in Ohio where she majored in political science. After earning a bachelor’s degree, Jennings served three years in the United States Air Force, where she is currently a member of the Indiana Air National Guard 122nd Fighter Wing unit.
“Throughout this experience, I have met many state leaders and garnered a better understanding of state government through hands-on exposure unmatched by anything happening in a classroom,” Jennings said. “This internship has opened doors, enhanced my dedication to working in politics and prepared me in ways that will greatly benefit my future endeavors.”
As a legislative intern, Jennings corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails. She also helps staff committee hearings and floor proceedings.
The House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
