STATEHOUSE (Feb. 22, 2016) — State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond) recently welcomed Israeli Consul General Roey Gilad to the Statehouse.

In his address to members of the House of Representatives, Gilad stressed the strong bond between the state of Israel and the United States. According to Gilad, this 68-year-old relationship began when President Harry Truman became the first international leader to reach out to Israel 11 minutes after their independence. Gilad also spoke of the strong alliance between the state of Israel and Indiana. Gov. Mike Pence traveled to Israel last year, helping foster a relationship between Israel and Indiana. Hamm said this resulted in the Israeli company, Omen Casting Group, choosing to locate in Indiana.

“As a result of our strong alliance, Omen Casting Group has chosen to build its first U.S. production facility in Richmond,” Hamm said. “This will have a $16 million economic impact on our community and provide more than 100 new jobs.”

Hamm said, thanks to the strong alliance of Israel and Indiana, the Omen Casting Group could be the first of many Israeli businesses Indiana could attract.
