STATEHOUSE (Feb. 12, 2016) — State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond) welcomed students and staff from the Boys & Girls Club to the Statehouse this week.

House Republicans and Democrats selected the organization as their charity for the 2016 session. Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) authored a resolution recognizing the Boys & Girls Club and the services it provides. A group of more than 50 students and club staff members from across the state attended the resolution ceremony in the House Chamber.

Hamm, a former club president in Richmond, has witnessed firsthand what a great environment Boys & Girls Clubs provide for local youth.

“I cherish the time spent with Boys & Girls Club staffers who dedicate themselves to Indiana’s youth,” Hamm said. “Please consider volunteering with this organization that has such a great impact on thousands of Hoosier children and teenagers.”

Youth member, Dakota Wilcox, is currently a candidate for Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County. There are four different levels to the Youth of the Year competition — local club, state, regional and national. The state competition will be held in April in Indianapolis.

“Dakota is a great role model and leader in his community,” Hamm said. “I wish him the best.”

Indiana currently has more than 100 Boys & Girls Clubs that serve 99,000 youth each year. The goal of this organization is to enable all young Hoosiers to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible members of society.
