STATEHOUSE (Oct. 5, 2016) – Local communities recently received more than $8 million in federal funding to improve infrastructure, according to State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg).
The Indiana Department of Transportation awarded federal funding in the amount of $2,160,000 to Dearborn County, $2,030,400 to Jennings County and $1,120,000 to Decatur County for bridge rehabilitation projects. The city of Aurora received $1,727,200 for a reconstruction project on Market Street and Jennings County received $1,155,200 for a rehabilitation project on O&M Avenue and Brownstown Road.
“These federal transportation funds will help local officials make necessary road and bridge improvements in our communities,” Frye said. “As a member of the House Committee on Roads and Transportation, I will focus on supporting a responsible, long-term solution to fund our Hoosier roads during the upcoming legislative session.”
INDOT distributed nearly $80 million in federal transportation funding to 64 rural cities, towns and counties to invest in local road and bridge improvements and sidewalk and trail projects. Combined with local funds, close to $135 million is being invested in infrastructure in communities across Indiana.
