STATEHOUSE – State Representative Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) honored the Decatur County Family YMCA’s 100 year anniversary with a resolution. Rep. Frye was joined at the Statehouse by several community members and YMCA employees.
“It is an honor to recognize the dedicated service of those individuals who have made this longevity possible,” said Rep. Frye. “By providing programs which encourage a healthy mind, body and spirit, the YMCA has played a key role in strengthening the foundation of our county and the surrounding communities for 100 years.”
More than 5,300 children participate in the YMCA’s after school enrichment program, the 21st Century after school programming, preschool, summer camp, youth sports and leagues, swim lessons, child watch and special events. Numerous local organizations provide in excess of $70,000 to families and individuals so that no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
“The YMCA serves Hoosiers of all ages, faiths, abilities and economic backgrounds,” said Rep. Frye. “However, one of the greatest ways in which they serve our community is through our youth. The YMCA provides not only a place to play, but also a place to learn and grow into healthy, socially responsible adults.”
