STATEHOUSE (Dec. 27, 2016) — State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) recently received a Sagamore of the Wabash from Vice President-elect Gov. Mike Pence.
Friend was awarded this honor for his service as a state legislator and his role as Speaker Pro Tempore, a leadership position in which he presides over official House proceedings when the Speaker of the House is temporarily unavailable. Recipients of the Sagamore of the Wabash have demonstrated distinguished service to the state.
“This is one of the highest honors the governor can bestow upon a Hoosier, and I am truly humbled to be a recipient,” Friend said. “Without the support from my constituents, I would not in be in the position to receive this award. Thank you for allowing me to be your voice at the Statehouse.”
