Rep. Dodge honored for his commitment to constituents STATEHOUSE—State Representative Dick Dodge (R-Pleasant Lake) was honored by the General Assembly for his commitment to the constituents of District 51 throughout his eight years of service. Rep. Dodge announced he will be retiring from the legislature after the 2012 session. This year, he served as the vice-chairman of the Natural Resource Committee and was an active member of the Veterans’ Affairs and Public Safety Committee, Environmental Affairs Committee and the Public Health Committee. He served as chairman of the Lake Management Work Group and was a member of the Health Finance Commission during the interim. Rep. Dodge dedicated years to public service. One of his main concerns was promoting the conservation of Indiana’s natural resources. With 101 lakes throughout his district he worked diligently at developing solutions for problems affecting Indiana lakes. Specifically he addressed the toxic growth of blue-green algae and the growing issue of phosphorous contamination that affects many lakes and reservoirs. “It has been such a great honor to represent my constituents at the Statehouse over the past eight years and I truly will miss being their voice,” said Rep. Dodge. “Throughout my time as a legislator, I have tried to accurately reflect their opinions and viewpoints to the best of my ability.” Another key issue that Rep. Dodge worked on was strengthening Indiana’s economy by bringing more jobs to Hoosiers across the state and to District 51. Throughout his time as a legislator he scored high percentages on the annual Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Vote Analysis. This analysis takes place after every legislative session and highlights the pro-economy, pro-jobs voting records for state lawmakers. The scores are determined by bills and select amendments’ impact on the state’s economy. Rep. Dodge’s scores reflect his commitment to supporting bills that work toward enhancing Indiana’s economic stability and furthering job development in his community. “It was great to be recognized by the General Assembly for my years as a state legislator,” said Rep. Dodge. “This has been a great time in my life, and I hope I have made a positive impact on our community and in the lives of those who live here.” Rep. Dodge will continue to be active in the community and looks forward to spending time with his wife Joann, his five children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
