STATEHOUSE (Oct. 4, 2019) – State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) was recently appointed to serve as chair of the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee.

DeVon has served on the committee since 2012 and is also a member of the executive committee of the Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana. He fills the seat vacated by State Rep. Dave Frizzell (R-Indianapolis), who retired earlier this year.

“The well-being of children and families has always been a top priority of mine, and I will be a strong voice for them at the Statehouse,” DeVon said. “As we continue to monitor the situation surrounding the Department of Child Services and help get it back on track, we want to prioritize the best interests of these vulnerable children and make decisions that provide caseworkers flexibility to address each unique situation.”

DeVon will continue to serve as a member of the House Education Committee and House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee.

Standing committees meet during the legislative session, which convenes each year in January. Committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
