Note to the Press – State Rep. Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland), vice chair of the House Education Committee, issued the following statement after today's House Education Committee where HB 1086 was passed 8-3.
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 27, 2026) – "The Ten Commandments remain foundational to the principles that our state and nation were built on. Allowing schools to recognize them as a protected document honors our history and reinforces the values Hoosiers still believe in today. The amended version of this bill simply treats the Ten Commandments like other protected, historical documents, allowing them to be displayed similar to the Indiana Constitution and Declaration of Independence." – State Rep. Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland)
