STATEHOUSE (April 8, 2025) – Jasper County native Ben Olson is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2025 legislative session.
Olson, a Rensselaer Central High School graduate, is the son of Susan and Paul Olson. He is a graduate of Purdue University where he majored in biology and history.
"Every day introduces a new adventure and the opportunity to learn something new while being able to help serve the great people of Indiana," Olson said. "I get the privilege of seeing how my representative is making a difference in my community and around the state on a day-to-day basis."
As a legislative intern, Olson corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
"Ben has been able to create connections with so many great people who can help him on his career path," Culp said. "Lawmakers and staff rely on interns like him to ensure a successful legislative session."
At the start of each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the annual legislative session.
