STATEHOUSE — State Representative Casey Cox (R-Fort Wayne) was appointed to serve as Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee by House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis). The Speaker of the House appoints committee chairmen biennially, following each election of the General Assembly.
“Being appointed to serve as Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee is a tremendous honor,” said Rep. Cox. “With the many issues that will come before us this year, I look forward to leading with integrity and working with other committee members to find solutions in order to make our justice system operate more efficiently.”
Considered the “workhorse of the institution”, standing committees are vital to the success of the legislative process. Committees receive public testimony and deliberate proposed legislation before determining whether or not to advance it to the House floor.
“As an attorney by trade, my experiences and legal background has given me firsthand knowledge of our justice system, which will help me in my role as Vice Chair,” said Rep. Cox. “I know the areas that we are strong in and where improvements can be made, so I look forward to reviewing different legislation this session to move our justice system forward.”
Rep. Cox (R-Fort Wayne) represents portions of Allen County.
