Rep. Carbaugh supports historic increase to education funding
EDITOR’S NOTE: Please include the following statement from State Representative Martin Carbaugh (R-Fort Wayne) in your coverage of the passage of House Bill 1001, Indiana’s biennial budget, which includes education funding.
STATEHOUSE - “The state’s biennial budget not only passed the largest increase for education funding in our state’s history, but also historic funding for Fort Wayne Community School Corporation. I was pleased to support an increase in funding for our local students as well as continued protection for parents’ choice in their child’s education.
“In addition to increased k-12 education funding, we were also able to fully fund full-day kindergarten and significantly raise the foundation level of the education funding formula. I was also proud to support the budget which reclassified Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne as a metropolitan university. This will help put our community and students in a better position for the future.”
