STATEHOUSE (Feb. 16, 2018) — Hannah Joy Alte of Greenwood is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Woody Burton (R-Whiteland) and his fellow members of the House of Representatives during the 2018 legislative session.

Alte is the daughter of Michael and Kelly Alte. She is a senior at Franklin College working toward a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and political science.

As a legislative intern, Alte corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.

Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.

“It is always exciting to see students from our community working at the Statehouse,” Burton said. “Interns are critical in keeping things moving forward both on the House floor and behind the scenes. This internship is a great opportunity for students to be in the middle of the legislative process and I believe it is something all students should consider.”
