STATEHOUSE  (Jan. 12, 2016) State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) recognized the Wapahani High School girls volleyball team at the Statehouse Thursday for securing the Class 2A State Championship title.

“The work ethic demonstrated by these players helped them take home the state championship title two years in a row,” Beumer said.  “Even through tough practices and a winning season, this team has been able to excel not only on the court, but in the classroom as well. I also want to congratulate the coach on the new addition to his family, as he and his wife welcomed a baby right before the state championship game.”

Beumer presented a resolution to the Wapahani High School girls volleyball team in front of members of the Indiana House of Representatives at the Statehouse.

This year’s victory marks the fourth time in six years the Raiders have won the Class 2A state volleyball championship and the fifth time overall.

After winning the state title two years in row and meeting a set of standards, the Raiders will be moving up to the Class 3A level. This move is due to the Indiana High School Athletic Association's rules and regulations on a team’s success.
