STATEHOUSE (Feb. 16, 2018) — A Yorktown High School graduate is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) and his fellow members of the House of Representatives during the 2018 legislative session.
Emilee Gates, a resident of Muncie, is the daughter of Leslie and Jason Gates. She attends Arizona State University and is majoring in political science.As a legislative intern, Gates corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
“Working at the Statehouse during session is a great experience for students,” Beumer said. “As an intern, Emilee is able to network with state officials and staff. She does a fantastic job staying on top of her many tasks, and this internship is helping her gain valuable experience for her future. I encourage college students seeking an immersive learning opportunity to apply.”
