STATEHOUSE (Aug. 12, 2016) – Eight local farms were recognized on Friday with Hoosier Homestead awards for 100 years or more of family farm ownership, according to State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc).
These local families were honored during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair:
“The Hoosier agriculture industry contributes greatly to Indiana’s economy,” Beumer said. “Owning a farm for more than a century is a momentous milestone. I’m glad I was able to be at the state fair to be a part of honoring these local families who are truly worthy of this recognition.”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more.
Two award ceremonies are held each year, in the spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
