STATEHOUSE (Feb. 16, 2018) — Deirdre Kelley of Indianapolis is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis) and his fellow members of the House of Representatives during the 2018 legislative session.
Kelley is the daughter of Sean and Jonna Kelley. She is working toward a bachelor’s degree at Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis in civic leadership.
As a legislative intern, Kelley corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
“It is great to see students like Deirdre engaged in our state government,” Behning said. “Interns are critical to ensuring everything at the Statehouse runs smoothly. I encourage all college students in our community to take advantage of this opportunity to gain professional experience and a working knowledge of the legislative process.”
