STATEHOUSE (May 16, 2025) State Rep. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) commended the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for a new concession opportunity for the Wyandotte Cave State Recreation Area at O'Bannon State Park aimed at enhancing visitor experiences.

Bartels said the DNR issued a Concession Opportunity Announcement seeking a vendor to provide guided tours at Wyandotte Cave. The concession operator will be authorized to conduct public tours and programs as outlined in the concessions license agreement and may also provide vending and retail services, pending approval by the DNR.

"Wyandotte Cave is a treasured natural landmark in southern Indiana, offering both educational and recreational opportunities," Bartels said. "The DNR's efforts to enhance the cave tour experience demonstrates a commitment to preserving our natural heritage while promoting tourism and local economic growth. I have been working on this for years and this will bring better opportunities for private businesses and benefits to our local communities."

The concession operator will be limited to conducting tours along two designated routes, Little Wyandotte and Big Wyandotte, annually between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.
