STATEHOUSE (July 24, 2023) – State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) recently received an appointment to serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services.
To prepare for the next legislative session, which kicks off in January, state legislators serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall to examine policy issues, gather public input and recommend potential legislation.
"The public health committee will examine a number of complex topics as we prepare for the next legislative session," Barrett said. "I look forward to studying the mental health issues that Hoosier veterans and first responders face, and work to develop solutions to further support these heroes."
Barrett will also serve on the Medicaid Advisory Committee, the Medicaid Oversight Committee, the Health Care Cost Oversight Task Force and the Drainage Task Force.
Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
