STATEHOUSE (July 17, 2025) – State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) recently received an appointment to serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services and as a member of the Medicaid Advisory Committee.

Interim committees meet throughout the summer and fall to explore and review policy issues and work together to identify solutions. Legislators will hear testimony from the public, experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the next legislative session which begins in January.

"This summer, we will look at various public health issues including water safety and maternal health care, as well as ongoing efforts to reform Medicaid,” Barrett said. "These meetings play an important role in reviewing programs, gathering input and shaping stronger, more effective policy. I look forward to continuing this legislative work to improve our health care system and reduce costs for Hoosiers."

The 2025 legislative interim study committee assignments and topics can be found here and legislative appointments for each committee are listed here. Committee hearings and agendas can be viewed on the Indiana General Assembly's website at iga.in.gov.
