STATEHOUSE (April 3, 2025) – Putnam County native Sydney Anderson is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Beau Baird (R-Greencastle) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2025 legislative session.

Anderson, a Greencastle High School graduate, is the daughter of Robert and Beth Anderson. She is set to graduate from Purdue University and majored in public health with a concentration in behavioral social science as well as minors in human development and family studies.

"In asking advice from those I have met within the internship, all have shared 'be present.' Focusing too intently about achieving success can make you miss the richness of life," Anderson said. "The focus is not what you did, but how you did it. The attitude, care and integrity behind the actions all mean more than the simple completion."

As a legislative intern, Anderson corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.

"Sydney is learning professional skills and building relationships that can help prepare her for the real world," Baird said. "Legislative interns offer critical support to both members and constituents throughout session."

At the start of each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the annual legislative session.
