STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments for the Indiana House of Representatives. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

State Rep. Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron) will serve as a member of the Local Government, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs committees.

"I am honored to be appointed to these three committees. These areas are a natural fit for my legislative activities given my knowledge and background,” said Rep. Aylesworth. “I look forward to working to improve the lives and of people in my district and the people in the state of Indiana."

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I firmly believe that committees are the workhorses of the institution. I look forward to being a part of a new generation of leaders as they shepherd important bills through our legislative process,” said Speaker Bosma.

The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
