Rep. Arnold: Having your voice heard in the upcoming legislative session

The 2017 legislative session is right around the corner. On Jan. 4, House lawmakers will convene at the Statehouse and work until the end of April. Along with crafting a balanced budget that will fund Indiana for the next 2 years, we will be focusing on a variety of topics such as long-term road funding, education and public safety

I represent each of you in House District 74 and your input helps guide me as I vote on these and other critical issues. As the legislative session begins, it is important to have your voice heard so our area is represented in the best possible way.

Completing my legislative survey is a great way to let me know your thoughts on how we can continue to keep Indiana on the right track. In early January, households in our district will receive the survey in the mail with questions regarding some of the top issues the General Assembly will examine. I kept southern Indiana in mind when crafting these questions and some of them pertain to specific legislation I have authored for the upcoming session. This legislation is a result of feedback I have received from folks in our community and I want to gauge how you feel the General Assembly should address the challenges facing Crawford, Dubois, Orange, Perry and Spencer counties.

There is also a comment section on the survey for you to offer input and any additional thoughts on topics you feel are important. You can complete the survey and return it in the mail or you can save a stamp and go online at www.in.gov/h74 to submit your responses. I encourage you to take the time to ensure your voice is heard this upcoming legislative session.

There are also many ways for us to keep in touch. Through email, phone, or an in-person meeting, I want to hear your input throughout session and be your advocate as we continue to make Indiana a great place to work and live.

From my family to yours, I hope you had a blessed Christmas and wish you a very happy New Year.

Please contact me with any questions or input at 317-232-9793 or by email at h74@iga.in.gov. Learn more about the work being done at the Statehouse by signing up to receive my email updates at www.in.gov/h74.
