STATEHOUSE (March 28, 2023) – Columbia City High School graduate Jaclyn Fries is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. David Abbott (R-Rome City) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2023 legislative session.
Fries, a Whitely County resident, is the daughter of Tim and Maeynn Fries. She is currently attending Ball State University, and majoring in legal studies and political science.
"This internship has introduced me to so many amazing people," Fries said. "I have gained great experience working with legislators and their constituents throughout session."
As a legislative intern, Fries corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
"Jaclyn and her fellow House interns have been a great help this session," Abbott said. "She is learning valuable skills, assisting legislators with daily responsibilities and helping constituents. I look forward to seeing Jaclyn's bright future unfold."
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
