STATEHOUSE (Aug. 18, 2022) – The longstanding Francis Frazier Farm in Randolph County recently received Hoosier Homestead Sesquicentennial and Centennial awards for being in operation since 1872, according to State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) and State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).
"Family farms play a big role in supporting our community, whether through employing Hoosiers or supplying our state with their goods," Prescott said. "Congratulations to the Frazier family on this well-deserved honor."
The Francis Frazier Farm was among more than 100 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their commitment to Indiana agriculture.
"I commend this family for maintaining their farm for more than 100 years, as they play a tremendous role in supporting our local communities and state," Raatz said. "It is farms like the Francis Frazier Farm that make and keep Indiana an agricultural leader."
Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
Each year, two awards ceremonies are held in the spring and summer commemorating the achievements of farm families across the state. Since its inception in 1976, more than 5,800 farms received the designation as Hoosier Homesteads.
