STATEHOUSE (Aug. 16, 2018) — The Jordan Farm was recognized Friday at the Indiana State Fair for being in operation for 184 years, according to State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) and State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).
Located in Randolph County and in operation since 1834, the Jordan Farm was presented a Hoosier Homestead Sesquicentennial Award.
“Family farms greatly impact our state’s economy,” Beumer said. “For over 180 years, the Jordan Farm has contributed to Indiana’s job and food supply. Congratulations to all of those involved with the Jordan Farm on this outstanding achievement.”
“It is an incredible accomplishment to successfully operate a farm for 184 years,” Raatz said. “The Jordan Farm truly deserves special recognition for their dedication to their farm and Indiana’s agriculture community. Congratulations!”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more. Families can qualify for the centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial award.
Each year, two awards ceremonies are held in the spring and summer commemorating the achievements of farm families across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
