Rep. Frizzell will be recognized at the Incoming Chairman's Reception, which will be held Friday evening at ALEC's annual conference. This year's four day conference is being held in New Orleans, LA. ALEC is a non-profit organization that works towards advancing the Jeffersonian principals of free markets, limited government, federalism and individual liberty through a non-partisan, public-private partnership of America's state legislators, members of the private sector, the federal government and the general public. "It is a tremendous honor to be named national chairman of ALEC," said Rep. Frizzell. "I will work diligently to promote and support the mission of ALEC and to advocate for conservative legislation and policies that coincide with their values and mine." ALEC's annual meeting is filled every day with workshops, meetings and guest speakers. Some of the topics covered this year are public pension reform, energy, higher education, health insurance exchanges, tax and fiscal policy and K-12 education reform. "I have an extensive relationship with this council and I am a firm believer in what it stands for," said Rep. Frizzell. "I look forward to my position as national chair and will do my best to uphold what ALEC represents." The ALEC Board of Directors selects the national chairman each summer at its annual meeting. The chairman will officially take office at the States and Nation Policy Summit in December. Rep. Frizzell is a long time member of ALEC and has served as the First Vice Chairman this past year and served eight years as the Chairman of the Health and Human Services Task Force. |
