End Date: 7/2/2010

Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and State Rep. Dave Frizzell (R-Indianapolis) presented the Southside Animal Shelter in qualifying for a $10,306 grant to fund energy efficiency and conservation projects at a Statehouse ceremony this Thursday.

The purpose of the Indiana Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program is to assist eligible entities in creating and implementing strategies to reduce fossil fuel emissions in a manner that will reduce the total energy use of the eligible entities, increase energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and reduce energy costs through efficiency improvements.

"Southside Animal Shelter is doing great work," said Rep. Frizzell. "It's wonderful to see them being honored by the state in this way, and I look forward to seeing the 'green' improvements they make with this money."

EECBG programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) and administered in Indiana by the Indiana Office of Energy Development (OED).
