STATEHOUSE - Today marked Organization Day for the Indiana House of Representatives, a ceremonial day on which all 100 members-including 19 new State Representatives-were sworn in by Chief Justice Shepard.

The newly elected Speaker of the House, Brian C. Bosma, pledged that he will do his duty and asks that all the Representatives do the same.

Among those returning to the Statehouse was State Rep. Dave Frizzell (R-Indianapolis), whose district includes portions of Johnson and Marion counties.

"My primary focus will be on jobs, crafting a balanced state budget that does not increase taxes and improving our education system," said Rep. Frizzell.

"There will be many challenges this session and I am encouraged by Speaker Bosma's commitments to bring civility back to the House Chamber.  It will be important for us to have a good working relationship with House Democrats so we can focus on doing what is right for Indiana," he said.

In September, the House Republican Caucus released their legislative plan which addressed their goals for jobs, education, government spending, and standing up to Washington, D.C. At the time, now-Speaker Bosma also noted that he wanted to 'reach across the aisle' and 'bring civility back to the house chamber'.
