"We had numerous tough choices to make on this budget. Unfortunately, we were not able to come to a bipartisan agreement on several issues. This budget spent more money than Indiana could afford, lacked any significant education reform and would have increased taxes as the state tried to replace the federal dollars used to prop up this budget. Since the budget was not passed by the House, we will have to come back during the summer to finish the job."
