Rep. Behning: Celebrating Science
Wayne Township Class Visits Statehouse
STATEHOUSE-State Representative Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis), Chairman of the House Education Committee, is pleased that Indiana students are celebrating science. Fifth grade students from Wayne Township's Chapel Glen Elementary visited the Indiana Statehouse today for a 'Science Stunt.'
"Students learned how insects defend themselves, how a frog croaks and how a plane flies. Events such as this are instrumental in showing students why science is important and to help them discover their own passion for science," said Rep. Behning.
The event served as a preview for the upcoming event "Celebrate Science Indiana", which will be held this Saturday, October 8 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The event will serve as an opportunity for the public to conduct hands-on activities, interact with scientists, and explore career opportunities in science-related industries.
"Many individuals and organizations have worked hard to bring these events to Indiana students. I want to thank everyone for their efforts to make science education a focus in Indiana," said Rep. Behning. "Science-related industries are growing, especially in Indiana, and educating students in science and math disciplines will enable them to better compete in the 21st Century job market."
