Plainfield officials traveled to the Indiana Statehouse last Friday to be presented with a 2010 Indiana Main Street Downtown Enhancement Grant Award from State Rep. Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis) and Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman.
The grant, which amounts to $5,000.00, will fund a Façade Improvement/Signage Program. According to the Lt. Governor's office, the project will create a matching grant program for façade improvements for downtown businesses, such as new awnings, light fixtures and exterior paint jobs.
"By sprucing up the downtown area, we're hoping to encourage new businesses to move in," said Rep. Behning. "And when new businesses move in, that will mean an influx of new jobs and economic vitality."
