[r85] Pond Report: Your opinions matter at the Statehouse (12/8/2011)

Thursday, December 8, 2011

Start Date: 12/8/2011 All Day
End Date: 12/8/2011

In the near future many of you will be receiving a legislative survey in the mail from me. On a daily basis, I receive phone calls, emails and letters from the constituents of District 85. As your state representative, I am contacted on a variety of matters such as how to apply for unemployment benefits or public assistance as well as road conditions, problems with state agencies and your opinions on issues before the legislature.

Finding ways to help assist you is very important to me. I consider it part of my job to help everyone navigate through the government system and find the most beneficial answers for my constituents on various state-related issues they are having.

This session there is going to be a variety of topics being discussed and that is why I am reaching out for your input and suggestions. I ask that you take the time to fill out my legislative survey. Your input helps me better represent you at the Statehouse and understand the issues that are most important to you.

There are a couple ways you can go about participating in this process. First, fill out the survey once you receive it in the mail and then send it back to me at the Statehouse. Or another option that you have is to fill out the survey online.

You can visit my webpage at www.in.gov/h85. Once there click on ‘Click here to answer my 2012 Legislative Survey’ in the top right corner. You will be asked to fill out some basic information to verify that you are a resident of District 85. After you have filled in the information, you will be able to read through and answer all of the questions.

This year I will be asking for your input on issues like government reduction, elimination of township governments, transparency in our school systems and your opinion on implementing right to work legislation, just to name a few.  One important note, the presence of a question on the survey does not mean that I support the issue. The questions chosen reflect the issues that are most likely to be discussed this upcoming session.

It is important that I get as much feedback as possible. I assure you that your thoughts and concerns are taken very seriously. I am eager to get the 2012 Legislative Session underway and begin making positive changes for Hoosiers across the state and right here in District 85.

If you have questions or would like to give me your input directly, please feel free to call my office and speak to my legislative assistant at 317-234-2993 or call toll-free at 1-800-382-9841.
