STATEHOUSE- State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) has received a 100 percent rating for his consistently pro-business voting record from the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB). The NFIB is a membership organization that focuses on current and proposed state and federal legislation and its impact on small business. The organization has a specialized understanding of what legislation would promote or harm small business growth. This year's scores were determined by floor votes that the state legislators made on key small business issues. The NFIB identified and analyzed the vote totals on nine bills that had a direct effect on small businesses, including bills regarding:
"Small business owners drive our economy, and when our economy thrives, so will the job market," said Rep. Lehman. "I show my support to small businesses by voting for legislation that will help strengthen them and our economy." Currently, 85 percent of all Hoosiers are employed by a small business with less than 20 employees.
