Dear Friends, Do you know a Hoosier artist or art organization whose work deserves statewide recognition? Nominate them through December 15 for the 2011 Governor's Arts Awards through the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC). Begun in 1973, the awards honor artists, individuals, educators, organizations, businesses, and communities for their efforts to further public awareness of the arts, though Organizations and businesses nominated must either have headquarters or operations in Indiana.According to the IAC, "past recipients include both the famous and less famous of the arts world, major corporations and small businesses, large cities and small towns." Awards are presented biennially, and nominations made but not selected during the 2009 cycle will be reconsidered for the 2011 cycle. Nominees will be selected by the IAC, recommendations made to Governor Daniels and notified in early 2011, pending his approval. For more information and to obtain a nomination form, visit http://www.in.gov/arts/2332.htm. Sincerely, State Rep. Matt Lehman |
