Rep. Crouch Studies Issues Important to Next Year's Session

STATEHOUSE -- Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) has been appointed to several summer study committees and commissions charged with tackling a variety of important issues facing Indiana. She has been appointed to the Developmental Disabilities Commission, Economic Development Study Committee, Select Joint Commission on Medicaid Oversight, and the Pension Management Oversight Commission.   This year, the Economic Development Committee will study the best practices in state and local economic development policies and activities, the extent to which Indiana's education systems support economic development, and the use and effectiveness of tax credits and deductions, to name a few.

The Select Joint Commission on Medicaid Oversight will be covering the problems or concerns regarding the administration of public assistance in Indiana in addition to the process of making eligibility determinations.

"The summer study committees are very important for the upcoming session," said Rep. Crouch. "We take our findings and are able to apply it to the legislation that we craft."

The Pension Management Oversight Commission is charged with studying whether PERF and TRF boards should include a clear summary of statutory requirements in any handbooks prepared for fund members.

The Developmental Disabilities Commission has not released an agenda yet.

During summer study committees the committee will take public testimony and hold open discussions on assigned issues. Some topics will be assigned as a result of legislation passed during previous legislative sessions.
