[r78] Utility Meetings Will Try to Find a Solution to Tree-Trimming Complaints (10/2/2009)

Friday, October 2, 2009

Start Date: 10/2/2009 All Day
End Date: 10/2/2009

As the utility company works to keep tree branches away from power lines, they have encountered many complaints from residents. Now the utility company wants to create a set of guidelines to better serve their customers.

"The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) has held public hearings all over the state," Rep. Suzanne Crouch said (R-Evansville). "It will be a great opportunity for our residents to come out and give their testimony."

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday October 7 (CST) at the Harrison High School Auditorium, 211 Fielding Road. An information session begins at 5:30 with the hearing starting at 6:00.

A complaint was filed with the IURC beginning in 2008. This prompted the Commission to begin an investigation into the policies, guidelines, and practices of the utilities relating to tree trimming.

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) will represent the public at the hearing. They encourage residents attending the hearing to give public testimony or just come to listen in the audience. If you plan on giving a testimony the OUCC recommends, if possible, having dates and summaries of communication with the utilities.

OUCC will also except written testimonies received by October 29.
