Rep. Sullivan responds to preschool pilot program announcement

NOTE TO THE EDITOR:  Please include the following statement from State Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville) in your coverage of Gov. Pence’s announcement that Vanderburgh County has been selected for the preschool pilot program.

“I am pleased that Vanderburgh County was chosen as one of the five counties for the preschool pilot program. This means that our local, low-income families with preschool-aged children will be among the first in the state to have the opportunity to participate in this program. The information from this pilot study will be instrumental in determining the benefits of the program.”

“High quality, early education is a predictor of academic and career success for our young Hoosiers. This pilot program is a smart way for Indiana to explore the benefits of funding preschool education without making a large financial investment. I believe that every child, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances, deserves the opportunity to access high-quality education.”
