STATEHOUSE—A bill to help Hoosier senior citizens and their families make the best choice for long-term and home health care, authored by State Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville), was signed into law by Gov. Daniels today. House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1211 will help seniors consider all of their options for long-term health care and home care. The Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) maintain lists and contact information for senior health care services in Indiana. Because AAA possesses the most up-to-date information on these services, nursing homes and hospitals will have to provide patients with AAA’s contact information. “Navigating through the health care system to find the option that best fits each senior can be overwhelming,” said Rep. Crouch. “This bill will give individuals a single resource where they can learn all of the care options available in their area, including home health care, and hopefully allowing more seniors to stay in their homes.” HEA 1211 will go into effect on July 1, 2012. -30- Rep.
