STATEHOUSE –“For 25 years, Indiana has been incredibly fortunate to have our legal system under the superb leadership of Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard. “Thanks to the guidance of the chief justice, children that are victims of abuse and neglect now have access to more Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) than any other state besides Texas. This dedicated corps of volunteers ensures that the best interests of children are the top priority in court proceedings. Furthermore, to protect victims of domestic violence, the chief justice oversaw the modernization of protective order procedures. Law enforcement officers are electronically alerted to a protective order so that victims are made safe immediately. “During his tenure, Chief Justice Shepard brought our judicial system into the 21st century and impacted the life of every Hoosier. He has made Indiana a better place to live and I’m honored to have worked alongside him at the Statehouse.” -30- Rep. Crouch remarks on State of the Judiciary address, 1-11-12.docx |
