Rep. Crouch: "Ordinary People Can Make Great Things Happen"

STATEHOUSE -- On Saturday, Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) spoke at a Leadership Conference for 4-H members at the Vandenburgh County Fairgrounds.    President of the Vandenburgh County Fair, Beth Schmitt, D.A.R.E. Officer, Daren Harmen and past 4-H student, Andrea Bittner joined Rep. Crouch in part of the Leadership Conference. Their primary goal: to deliver a powerful message to the youth.

Sydney Lax, a senior at F.J. Reitz High School, coordinated the Leadership Conference for a school project. She has served in the Page Program of the House of Representatives for three consecutive sessions.

"Everyone in the audience can be a leader by standing up for what they believe in," Rep. Crouch said. She went on to tell the story of Rosa Parks, a woman who made a difference for our nation by refusing to give up her seat on the bus that she was riding.

Rosa Parks who is often referred to as "the mother of the civil rights movement," was the catalyst of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. "Rosa Parks did not wake up that morning and decided to change the world; she decided to change her world by standing up to what she believed in.

"We all have that capacity in us. Ordinary people can make great things happen," said Rep. Crouch.
