Rep. Crouch comments on House ajdourning Sine Die

Please include the following statement from State Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) in your coverage of the last day of session.

STATEHOUSE -- "We set out to adopt a balanced budget without raising taxes this session and I am very pleased to say that we have accomplished that goal in passing our $28 billion budget. We have worked hard and come up against unique challenges this session but I believe our efforts to strengthen Indiana were successful.

"When we found out that our revenue forecast was higher than projected that gave the budget an extra boost. We were able to keep a little over $1 billion in reserves, which is the minimum suggested for a best business practice. To put it in perspective, it takes approximately $40 million per day to run the state government. We also were able to put extra funding towards education and full day kindergarten with the extra revenue produced in the state.

"Several bills this session set out to promote job creation by attracting new businesses and encouraging small businesses and entrepreneurship in Indiana. Legislation that I authored was a major part of those efforts. Businesses will now be able to go to a one-stop-shop online via the Secretary of State's office to process all of their paperwork and licenses. It will simplify the process and will save both new and existing businesses money.

"I am very pleased to know that our work this session will make Indiana more prosperous for all Hoosiers and that we will continue to lead the nation out of this recession."
